FAQs
What’s your process for new clients?
We’ll start with a free 30-minute chat to understand your goals. From there, I provide a clear proposal outlining scope, timeline and pricing. For retainer clients, I work as your on-call comms partner. For project work, we agree delivery milestones and get started as soon as both parties are happy.
Do you offer ongoing support or only project-based work?
Both. Some clients bring me in for specific projects such as annual reports, media campaigns or stakeholder communications. Others work with me on a retainer basis, where I act as an extension of their communications team — providing consistent, reliable support each month. I can also offer an hourly rate for ad-hoc tasks.
What makes your consultancy different from a larger agency?
With me, your work is never passed down a chain — you get direct access to a senior communications specialist who has led comms at national organisations. My service is personal, fast, confidential and strategic, without agency overheads or generic templates.
Can you work under embargo or handle confidential material?
Absolutely. Your document and any related information are handled in strict confidence and deleted after delivery unless otherwise agreed. I regularly work under embargo and with sensitive communications, including for OIA and LGOIMA.
What kinds of documents can you review?
I specialise in communications-heavy, public-facing content — including media releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, funding documents, press statements and digital campaigns. If it's heading to print or publication and your reputation is attached to it, I can make sure it’s press-ready. Anything that is going to be made public can (and probably should) be reviewed — think websites, menus, signage, guidelines, email campaigns, packaging, brochures…if it’s important to you, it’s important that we get it right.
Do you only work with certain sectors?
I specialise in working with public sector organisations, museums and cultural institutions, NGOs, health charities, and purpose-led businesses. However, I welcome enquiries from any organisation that values clarity, integrity and impact in their communications.
Can you help with crisis or issues management?
Yes — I have extensive experience leading crisis communications and media response at executive level. I can help you prepare messaging, manage media enquiries, assess reputational risk, and respond confidently during high-pressure moments.
What if I need proofreading outside business hours?
After-hours or weekend bookings may be available by prior request and incur a small premium due to the urgency. If you have a critical deadline, get in touch — I’ll always do my best to accommodate urgent requests.
What’s the difference between proofreading and copyediting?
Proofreading checks for typos, grammar, punctuation and formatting errors. Copyediting goes a step further — tightening wording, ensuring tone and flow feel professional and consistent, and making sure your message reads clearly and confidently.
Do you write annual reports and other statutory/government-facing documents?
Yes — I have managed and written Annual Reports, Statements of Intent, Statements of Performance Expectations, briefing documents for Ministers, and public accountability publications. I understand tone, structure, compliance standards and stakeholder scrutiny. I have experience in writing for a wide range of audiences, in different formats and for different purposes. Let me know what you need and we can work it out.
Can you help with copywriting for websites or digital campaigns?
Absolutely. I write website copy, landing pages, campaign messaging, donor appeals, speeches, op-eds, and stakeholder communications with a focus on clarity, tone and audience connection.
